Dr. Robert M. Macdonald, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Macdonald Dr. Macdonald performed his undergraduate work at University of California, San Diego, and obtained his medical degree at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He received his surgical training at University of Colorado, and has been with Rocky Mountain Surgical Associates since 1996. He is a Board Certified General Surgeon and a fellow of The American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American Hernia Society.

 His practice is centered mainly at Rose Medical Center where he has served as Vice Chairman of Surgery. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at University of Colorado. He also maintains a surgical practice at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton Colorado.

Dr. Macdonald specializes in Minimally Invasive Surgery. He has performed thousands of laparoscopic hernia and gallbladder operations, and specializes in the surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), lung disease, and gastrointestinal cancer. Special areas of interest include lung cancer and esophageal surgery. He also has extensive experience in laparoscopic gastric banding procedures for obesity and is affiliated with Denver Bariatrics and Rose Hospital’s Bariatric Center of Excellence.

Dr. Macdonald is affiliated with the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, and Colorado Rapids.

He has been married since 1991 and has 3 boys. He enjoys golf, fishing, landscaping, and coaching his sons in their various sports. He has been recognized several times in Top Docs edition of the Denver's 5280 magazine.
