Dr. Robert M. Macdonald, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Photo Dr. Robert M. Macdonald Dr. Macdonald performed his undergraduate work at University of California, San Diego, and earned his medical degree at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He received his surgical training at University of Colorado, and has been with Rocky Mountain Surgical Associates since 1996. He is a Board Certified General Surgeon and a fellow of The American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American Hernia Society.

His office is located on the campus of Rose Medical Center where he has served as Vice Chairman of Surgery. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at University of Colorado.

Dr. Macdonald specializes in Minimally Invasive Surgery. He has performed thousands of laparoscopic hernia and laparoscopic gallbladder operations, and also specializes in the surgical treatment of Sports Hernias. In 2017, he established Mile High Hernia Institute (www.macdonaldrmsa.com). Dr. Macdonald is affiliated with the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rapids, UC Health, Denver University and Colorado State University.

He has been married since 1991 and has 3 boys. He enjoys golf and fishing. He has been recognized several times in Top Docs edition of the Denver's 5280 magazine.
