Dr. William J. Plaus, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Plaus graduated as Valedictorian from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y., with a degree in biology in 1976. He completed his medical training in 1980 at Harvard Medical School. He went on to complete his surgical residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, MA. A major part of his training was in GI surgery and endocrine surgery of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pancreas. He has practiced in Denver since 1985.

Dr. Plaus' surgical practice is busy and wide-ranging. He has now completed over 2000 thyroid and parathyroid operations as well as thousands of surgeries for colon cancer, gallbladder issues, breast cancer, and all types of hernias. A large portion of his practice involves laparoscopic and advanced laparoscopic techniques.

He strives to ease patients' worries as they go through stressful times.

Dr. Plaus has spent a great deal of time teaching surgery residents, medical students, and physician assistant students. He has won several teaching awards at Rose Medical Center and The University of Colorado Medical School. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Colorado. He has served as President of the Denver Academy of Surgery and has been annually honored as one of Denver's 5280 top doctors for over 15 years.

Dr. Plaus has several outside interests including hiking, biking, gardening, and reading. He and his wife have three grown children.
